Franciscan Youth (YouFra):
What Is YouFra?
YouFra are Franciscan Youth, from different countries throughout the world, who have chosen the Gospel as a way of life. These youth live the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi who made Christ the inspiration and the center of his life with God and people.
Franciscan Youth (YouFra) are members between the ages of 14 and 30 – meeting in fraternity – embracing a true community spirit, that develops a sense of belonging. With a community spirit, a sense of belonging, and the continual support of the Secular Franciscan Order, they grow in the Christian and Franciscan dimensions of their lives. It must be noted that those who are a part of YouFra, can be both professed and non-professed young people.
It is important to emphasize, that Franciscan Youth should not be considered a separate fraternity, but instead should be thought of as an extension of the local fraternity and the entire OFS. This means YouFra is not a fourth order, but is an extension of the third. YouFra should be considered to be like a youth group in a local parish. Parish youth groups are extension of the local parish and are not a separate parish. The same is true with YouFra, in that it is part of the local fraternity.
